My journey started with a thunderbolt of inspiration – an ah-ha moment or you might also say a lightbulb moment. Armed with some serious determination and drive to change the trajectory of my life, I decided to start an online business that focuses on helping other women succeed in the online space. Why because gosh there is a lot of nonsense on the internet and it sure is difficult to dissifer between online guru genius and someone literally telling furphies to get your hard earned cashola. And thus, a brilliant idea was birthed.
Chapter 2: Naming the Beast
Choosing the perfect name for your business is like trying to name a newborn baby. It’s simultaneously exciting and terrifying, and you know you’re going to be stuck with it for a long time. After countless hours of brainstorming (and a few too many glasses of wine), Inspire by Charli Lou was born. The ultimate goal here is to INSPIRE other women to change their stories, to try something that might otherwise seem impossible. And hey, personal branding is the key to success. You babe are your niche and your brand. You are your golden ticket.
Chapter 3: Building a Website (Cue panic attack)
I’ll admit, I’m no IT Tech guru. I am not a savvy website builder or a skilled coder, however I have dabbled a touch and I’m a strong believer in lots of caffeine and Youtube tutorials. I embarked on the perilous journey of creating a website, but not just any website the greatest website of all time. Lets get this clear. You can simply hire someone off fiver to build you your dream blogging website, but where’s the fun in that. Also I love a good DIY project. Picture this: me, caffeine or maybe wine fueled, furiously clicking away at my keyboard, and occasionally shouting profanities when things went awry. But hey, I survived, as did my laptop and voila my incredible and dreamy website was live.
Chapter 4: Content Creation (and the Art of Staring at a Blinking Cursor)
You’d think coming up with brilliant content ideas would be a breeze. After all, I had a vision, a big vision! But oh boy, the dreaded blinking cursor on a blank page can be an intimidating foe. It took some time, some hair pulling and even a few sneaky dance breaks and finally the creative juices started to flow. I started pumping out content that I genuinely hoped would help or inspire other boss babes on a similar journey. I have a big voice with lots to say and finding an outlet to express myself all the while helping others has been such a true gift.
Chapter 5: The Social Media Circus
I quickly realized that social media was the name of the game. But let me tell you, mastering the art of Instagram hashtags, tiktok trends and Pinterest aesthetics was like learning a new language. But hey, I found my groove eventually, and quickly realised how incredible social media is as a creative outlet. Let me tell you my reels games is seriously strong.
Chapter 6: The Joy of Networking
Building connections with other women entrepreneurs was an absolute game-changer. I joined online communities, attended virtual workshops and stalked the absolute shit out of my favourite bloggers and influencers, gaining so much inspiration from women of all walks of life. Networking not only helped me grow my business but also reminded me that we’re all in this together, finding my soul tribe and creating a community has transformed my life and I think its something most of us are missing. Women supporting women is absolute fire. We need to be each others biggest cheerleaders not competition.
Chapter 7: The First Success Story
And then, it finally happened. I received my first email from a reader who said my blog had inspired her to take the plunge into the online space. Cue happy dance! This set an absolute fire in my belly, that I could be of service and seriously make a difference in other peoples lives. It was a moment of pure joy and validation that made all the late nights and self sabotaging thoughts seem like a distant dream.
Chapter 8: Embracing Imperfection
Throughout this hilarious journey, I’ve learned that perfection is overrated and pretty much impossible to achieve. No body wants perfect, what people really connect with is your imperfections, your vulnerability and authenticity. Mistakes are just opportunities for growth, and sometimes, the funniest stories come from the silliest blunders. So, embrace the quirks, laugh at yourself, and remember that every setback is a setup for a comeback.
